The Bobke Summer Movie Challenge 2026

 It's summer! Which means it's time for the Bobke Summer Movie Challenge (BSMC). Between now and August 31st, there are 15 categories of movies to fufil to complete the BSMC. In order for a movie to count, it must be a new watch, and it must be at least an hour long. Anyone who completes the movie challenge in time will have a party thrown in honor of them next fall, regardless of how fast they complete it. The categories are as follows:

- A movie on the Letterboxd top 4 of someone else doing this challenge (list of eligible movies)

- 2026 Release

- Movie in a language you have not seen a movie in 

- Movie based on a non-Marvel or DC comic book

- Movie with a named dog character

- Movie which was nominated for and lost Best Picture

- Movie with a 5+ word title

- Musical or Rom Com

- Movie with under 3.5 stars on Letterboxd

- Non-Mission Impossible movie starring Tom Cruise or directed by Alejandro Iñárritu

- Movie in the Letterboxd top 250

- Non-Disney animated movie

- Movie with a BIPOC director

- Documentary, concert film, or pro shoot

- Movie with a number in the title
